The Person of the Minister
People who help in church
ministries have the responsibility to promote and uphold the integrity and
authenticity of the Catholic Faith. Helpers in church ministry are ministers.
Ministers are role models in faith for others to follow. It is the
responsibility of the person who says yes to church ministry to promote
(exemplify / live) the official teaching of the Catholic Faith,
and not promote their personal piety , or interpretation, or understanding of
faith teaching.
That means ministers have the
responsibility to:
· Learn
the official values and teaching of the church (life long catechesis)
Examine their lives
in the light of faith teaching (integrity)
Realign behavior to the teaching of the catholic faith (authenticity)
Authentically practice Catholic Faith praxis especially frequent participation
in the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation.
Present only what the church teaches without adding personal bias
Avoid scandal. Scandal = openly, publically living or acting in defiance of the
teaching of the Church.
It is the responsibility of
the church to:
· Empower
people to become disciples of Jesus.
Provide growth and conversion opportunities for those called to serve in
ministry ; i.e.: Discipleship discernment, bible study, faith sharing, adult
Formation classes.
Provide specific ministry training and support for persons in ministry.
Avoid using people by just harvesting their volunteer time and talents without
first feeding their personal spiritual needs.
