God is good… All the time!!!

"Welcome to the youth ministry family, where we strive to love God in all we are  and all we do.  God knows, it can be difficult being a teen.  Luckily you have youth ministry beside you to cheer your successes, encourage you, challenge you, educate you, share faith with you, laugh with you, cry with you, serve beside you, and pray with & for you.  AND luckily for St. John Vianney, we have the great blessing of YOU.  God made you with great  gifts, talents, energy, creativity, heart, intellect, humor… the list goes on and on.  God has a special role for you in creation and we are privileged to be part of your journey.  Over this next year in youth ministry, we hope you will discover, develop, explore and share with us the wonderful person God has made in you, and in doing so, we will all grow closer to God and to one another in Christ. "

All the time, God is Good!!!

- Mary Klemm - Director of Youth Ministry

Thank you to all those who chaperoned and fund raised for youth ministry at the USA Taekwondo US Nationals & JR Olympics June 27- July 4,2010. Because of your cooperative service, positive attitude, dedicated work and willingness to work longer hours, St. John Vianney received the “Outstanding Volunteer Support” Award. Special thanks to those of you who worked over 12 hours on ALL 6 days. You are all “gold medal champions” for youth ministry.

What is SJV Youth Ministry?

As a rule, our culture does not encourage teens in their efforts to be genuinely Christian. They need the support of like-minded people around them to offer support. SJV YOUTH MINISTRY is the place where young people, grades seven through twelve, can gather with supportive people and make friends with like-minded teens. The faith–filled atmosphere promotes self-discovery and spiritual growth. The youth are guided by an adult core team and led by peer ministers. All of the teens have the opportunity to participate in liturgical ministries, group gatherings, social activities, prayer services, retreats, outings and community service projects.

The Junior and Senior High ministry is open to students in public, private and Catholic schools.  Registration is required.

SJV Youth Ministry Mission:

"Youth ministry is the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth wiht the larger community." (Renewing the Vision, p.1)

"Our mission is to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today." (RTV, p.9)

Our goal is to foster a parish community that allows youth to experience Jesus, continue faith development, personal and social growth, while pursuing the goals of the Catholic Church. To provide a safe, stress free, adult-guided environment where respect, responsibility, sharing and wholesome Catholic Christian fun is encouraged.

How do I get Involved?

     Youth Involvement:

See our Calendar for list of upcoming activities.

     Teen Leadership :

St. John Vianney is structured so that the gifts and talents of our young people are nurtured. Teens with a talent or heart for leadership are invited to join the peer ministry team. Young people are also encouraged to discern their calling for liturgical ministry, community service and faith formation. Contact: Mary Klemm 407-582-0145.

     Senior High Peer Ministry:

We have a core team of teens that have completed the diocesan training, Catholic Leadership Alive, and have been commissioned as leaders. During the course of the year, teens involved in Peer Ministry are required to attend one leadership retreat and actively participate in Wednesday formation meetings. The peer ministry team helps to facilitate Youth Ministry gatherings, the Confirmation Program’s retreats or day of Reflection, 24-Hour Food Fast Lenten Lock –In and are invited to help in other parish events. Teen leaders need to be confirmed, have attended at least one leadership retreat and have an FDLE background check and fingerprint card on file. Contact: Mary Klemm 407-582-0145.

     Adult Involvement:

St. John Vianney Youth Ministry encourages parent/guardian and adult participation. Anyone interested in this ministry may call the faith formation or youth office. For a list of opportunities to be involved, click here.
