Catholic Diocese of Orlando - In 1968, two new dioceses were formed in Central Florida, the Diocese of Orlando and the Diocese of St. Petersburg.   William D. Borders became first Bishop of Orlando, serving until his appointment as Archbishop of Baltimore in 1974. The second bishop of Orlando, Bishop Thomas J. Grady, served from 1974 to 1990.  Bishop Dorsey  was appointed Orlando's bishop on May 25, 1990 and served until he retired on November 13, 2004.  Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop Wenski as coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Orlando on July 1, 2003.  Bishop Wenski assumed the role of the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Orlando on November 13, 2004. more
